Evaluating my 3D model

At first I was not sure what I wanted to do so when I drew the moodboard I drew cars, spaceships, trucks. eventually I decided that I wanted to make a futuristic car which did not look like the other cars on the Internet. after researching futuristic cars and some spaceships I had a strong idea what I wanted to make. In 3D max I used standard primitives to make the car, I mainly used things like cones and cylinders. I found a brushed metal texture for my car which I thought was ok for the body of my car. at the time I was happy with the texture. I had a problem with the texturing for the body of the car as the texture only covered half body and repeated the texture to cover other half perhaps if I had a bit more time I may have found a brushed metal texture which was better or if I new about making tileable textures in photoshop. To overcome this problem I used 4 omni lights to light the car up which made the line in the middle look a little bit better and made the texture fit my specifications I had at the start of the project. I then made the fans by using planes and rotating them slightly to make them look like fan blades. I also used cylinders to make the rings the fans are in I also used the control and shift shortcut to make the cylinders for all of the fan blades and then I used the scale tool to make the the fan blades and the cylinders smaller. For the two tubes at the top of the car I used the bend tool modifier and the taper tool modifier to make the tube curved and to make the bottom half of the tube thinner than the rest of it.

The final design did look like the work I did before making it as I manged to make it look like the quad-view design. The car I made before this did was a lot more basic as all I did was place standard primitives like a box and cylinders for the components of the car and then I made the box to a editable mesh to make the edges smoother than before and pull the top up for the seats and that was it. this car used a lot more standard primitives and lights to make the car look a bit better than it already was.

In comparison to the car below I think that the car does not meet professional examples as the texture I chose for my car was a brushed metal texture which worked for me but this car has a white ipod theme which suits the futuristic theme more however it looks like it could  be made. However the car fails on being a bit strange which was also something I wanted to do to make it easy to remember. The example also has more detail with the lights on the car and the holes near the seat, I would have wanted to put some lights on it but the texture I choose may not suit the lights.

Next time I make a car model I think that I will  spend more time looking for textures to use as  the texture I used did not fully cover the model so I had to hide it with lights.

I think that my strengths in 3D max helped me find out how to cover the poor texture which allowed and allow me to take pullout that little bit at the back because a editable mesh would not allow me to do that because I did not has a edge there while a editable poly allowed me to connect to edges to make one edge allowing for me to pull the edge out.

However my weaknesses in 3D max also affected the model as the tubes at the top when into the car and can be seen through the glass. This is because I could not delete the polygons without making it show on the outside of the model.

Movment Animation Practice

I have made a animation which has got a ball moving and the camera  also moves around with the area the ball and I had a couple of appropriate textures on the ball and made it bounce using auto key and moving the ball into a different position when rendered the ball would move to that position. I also used a a target camera as that was easier focus on the ball.

Planning a 3D model

3D model

This is my final design in 3Ds max I have followed my first drawings and everything seemed to fit together. From the concept sketches I started to think that maybe that the design would not fit my criteria although when I started to put on textures and the right colours I think it look pretty good. I also used omni lights to make the main texture look better than it did before I had . Unfortunately the car did not fully render and either show the end  of a object or show t

I made the car by first using a cone and extruding bits of the cone out. then placed a cylinder and used the bend tool to make the exzaust and then I deleated the top of the cylinder  for the exsaust. After this I made the turbines for the car to move by placing a smaller cylinder and coyping it for the two at the front and for the back then I used the scasle tool to make the back two bigger.  I then used rotated planes to make the fans and a cylinder. I then placed textures based on the refence images on the powerpoint and used omni lights to make the car look better.

Action Jackson Reflection

On  Wenesday 30th of march a Man called Action Jackson came in to do a motivational on how to be motivated on how to work and how to you can stop the voice in your head that tells you that your not good enough.

I think that Action Jackson did a good job as he made made the message clear when making a few funny jokes. I feel that Action Jackson really enjoyed doing the speech and doing the activities to push us which made us enjoy the actites to. An example of a actviete is the arm test where you had to put your arm as far as you can go and then try to go further after you imagine that you could move it further. Although this is a simple activite it seemed fun because Action Jackson seemed fun.

I think that the part I like the most is when we had memorise 24  things and words which sounds impossible but when Action Jackson  made it in to a story is became easier to remember the words and objects. Overall I think that Action Jackson did do a good job and motavated almost everyone and made everyone there have a good time.

lighting experiments

I have used a skylight for this and I found out that when used all objects will be completly covered by the light.

This time I used the omni tool and manged to create shadows with some basic shapes.

lighting renders

This is my first render and I have only made the light brighter by using the mutiplier tool in the Inensity/color/attenuation and the falloff/field to make light dim the further out it goes.

This is my second render I have done the same with the third one however I have made the light degrade from a point. I have used the Inensity/color/attenuation and changed the type of light to inverse to give the degrade effect.

this is my third render I made the light red and made the light brighter. I changed the size of the light by using the spotlight parameters using the hotspot beam.
