Comic page evaluation

For unit 69 we had to create a comic page for a chosen character. The character could be from a comic, cartoon or a game. I first had to choose what character I wanted to use after that I had to draw a storyboard so I could if I could fit my story on to a layout I liked. I then put the storyboard into photoshop and added colour to it and the speech bubbles with text. I choose to use Dante from the Devil May Cry games & the Anime. I changed Dante by first changing the colour of his clothes from red to blue and I wanted to change his hair from white to white to hints of black however photoshop would not allow this so I made it black completely. below there is other versions of Dante that I thought where not suitable with my Dante and the professional Dante. 

The skeches below were drawn basically with a picture of Dante from DMC 4 on the computer and I pretty much just drew what I thought about and just went on from there and for the main character drawings I think that I  did a ok job. The demon that shows up however was made with a different Idea instead of having a demon which looks strong and tough to beat i wanted something that looked easy and weak in all aspects so I made the something that should look like a balloon but I so thought about having something on it so apart from it looking inflated it also needed to look psychically damaged so I added stitching to the character which makes it look like it has been repaired or made.

 

I put all of the sketches into photoshop by using a scanner. In photoshop I mainly used the basic paint brush to fill in the page with colour however at one point I wanted circles  for the background so I used the gradient tool and filled parts of it which made the background that I like the most.I also used the Magic wand tool to select particular parts of the original drawings so they can be used in the comic. I also used group folders as all the layers that were I had started to get confusing so I made folders to hold all the layers.

On the left is my  comic page and on the right is a professional example which is not from Devil May Cry as there were none however this page and my page both have similarities like having a box dedicated to having one a action scene which makes up the background. The layout of the boxes are also similar as I have four boxes at the bottom which takes the same amount of space as the two on the professional  example does.

History on Dante

Dante is a half demon because his father Sparda loved a human and stopped a war which would have destroyed mankind.  However his brother Virgil planed to  use the power of Sparda to unlock the gates of hell and rule earth and hell. However his partner turns out to be jester and takes the power for him self. He is then killed by Dante  and Virgil  which opens to a fight with  Virgil with Sparda’s  sword. The next part of his story has Mundus wake from his slumber and he sends a demon which looks like Dante’s mother who sends him to  Mundus castle to kill Mundus  while Dante explores the castle Neo Angelo appears  to kill Dante however after the third time  Dante finds out that Neo Angelo is Virgil as he has the other half of his mother amulet. Trish reveals her true intentions  and betrays Dante  but then stops Mundus from killing  Dante. Dante then kills  Mundus and escapes with Trish. The character Dante was made by ninja theory and Capcom and the game was published by Capcom and Ubisoft. The anime was made by Madhouse and licenced by Funanimation.
